Meet Maddie
Driven by a passion for innovation, Boston native Maddie Rielly, has built her career designing products that make everyday life better. After graduating from the University of Vermont, Maddie spent several years in the Bay Area and recently returned to her home state to join SharkNinja. For the past year, she’s been a Mechanical Engineer II on the Home Environment R&D team, helping design and deliver high-performance products that bring ultimate comfort to consumers.

Outrageously Extraordinary in Action
During the early stages of the FlexBreeze fan program, Maddie faced a critical performance limitation that could have stalled development. A problem-solver at heart, she built prototypes, gathered data, and led the creation of a novel design iteration that not only resolved the issue at hand, but also unlocked unexpected performance gains. Her persistence and technical leadership shifted the team’s perspective, proving that even small changes could drive major impact.
Maddie’s bold thinking, resilience, and ability to challenge assumptions accelerated timelines and elevated the user experience. By combining technical rigor with user-centric design, she exemplifies the OE mindset—turning obstacles into opportunities for breakthrough innovation.

What does it mean to be Outrageously Extraordinary (OE)?
Being Outrageously Extraordinary means consistently pursuing excellence by pushing the limits of design to drive innovation and enhance performance. It’s about conducting thoughtful research to identify the most promising ideas, then strategically testing and refining them to achieve the best possible outcomes. In a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment like SN, this mindset fuels rapid innovation and sets the standard for exceptional engineering. Whether it’s refining a concept or reimagining a process, important questions to ask are, how many ways can this be done and what’s the best one for the situation?

What’s your True Edge, or what are you working to build?
I would consider my True Edge is driving multiple work streams to accelerate innovation and performance through rapid iteration and continuous improvement. I stay attuned to design changes across cross-functional teams, prioritizing an understanding of why features change and the value they bring to the performance and to users. I balance data analysis with real-world perception, working closely with the PD team to align performance metrics with user preferences, which has been essential to the success of our Home Environment products. Ultimately, I want to build trust by offering thoughtful, informed guidance that colleagues can rely on.
Can you share examples of how you live OE?
I live OE by embracing a mindset of continuous curiosity and improvement. I often find myself thinking about how things around me function, why they were designed a certain way and if I would’ve approached it that way. This curiosity motivates me to question assumptions and explore alternative solutions, especially in my design work. I am always looking for ways to refine my approach, whether that means learning from past projects, seeking advice and feedback, or staying current with new tools and technologies.
What makes working at SharkNinja special?
You get to work with so many people across so many disciplines, there is always someone to go to who might have insight into a challenge you may be facing. Even though there are so many products there are a lot of similarities, when you break it down to the core principles you can learn from the similar challenges others are facing. There is so much to learn and a lot of space to grow here.
