From College to Career: SharkNinja and NSBE Boston Empower the Next Generation of Innovators

At SharkNinja, we believe innovation doesn’t happen in isolation—it grows when problem solvers come together, share experiences, and inspire one another. That spirit came to life when SharkNinja teamed up with our corporate partner, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Boston, to host a professional development event designed to empower the next generation of innovators.

More than a networking event, the evening gave attendees a front-row seat to how SharkNinja brings ideas to life; it was a chance to step inside a world where an outrageously extraordinary mindset drives breakthroughs. The “chasing the sun” global collaboration model was one of the key points shared by the panel of leaders who shared insights, career advice, and guidance on how to improve our consumer products. Tamara Rivera, Senior Director, EHS, said, “When we innovate products here, chasing the sun becomes important. We’re always creating, always moving forward. It’s what allows us to keep pace with our commitment to delivering new innovations every year.”

Another theme that resonated with attendees was SharkNinja’s problem-solving mindset. Panelists spoke candidly about the challenges they face, how setbacks are transformed into opportunities, and the collaborative approach teams take to deliver consumer-loved products. Students left with a clearer picture of how innovation is not just about great ideas, but about disciplined problem-solving, adaptability and collaboration.

For NSBE members, the engagement was not just visible; it was felt, with one audience member perfectly reflecting the SharkNinja problem-solving mindset by asking about the appropriateness of giving feedback on products during a job interview. Nestor Gibeyeaux, Senior Manager of Product Development, responded, “Challenging the status quo is great, and if someone challenges it, then that’s what we want.”

This event marked a key milestone in the partnership between SharkNinja and NSBE Boston. Lora Alatise, Co-Professional Development Chair of NSBE Boston, expressed the collective sentiment, saying: “One of our goals this year is to support members in their career growth and progression. Kicking off with SharkNinja was an amazing experience. Our members left energized about their futures and grateful for the opportunity to learn directly from SharkNinja’s innovators.”

Together, SharkNinja and NSBE Boston aren’t just preparing early talent for careers, they’re inspiring the next wave of innovation.
